After almost five months of work, seven reports were written that were sent in July to the United Nations UPR system and, in addition, turned into a printed publication, which was launched on September 12, the same day that the Gender Identity Act was passed in his last vote in the Chamber of Deputies. In her speech at Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile, the director of the center, Nancy Yáñez Fuenzalida, congratulated the trans population for this achievement and appreciated the use of inclusive language in the reports sent. Hor his part, the Dean Ruiz-Tagle appreciated the approach of the Casa de Bello with the civil society.
Franco Fuica, Legislation and Public Policy coordinator of OTD Chile, highlights the inclusion of recommendations to eliminate discrimination in the health system, pointing out the need for a health center of reference for trans population, which guarantees the access to hormonal or surgical treatments for those who need it. Likewise, he highlights the need for create a state body focused on inclusion in topics of sexualities and genders; in charge of protective measures, such as shelter house for trans person of all ages, who are homeless because they lost their support networks.
